Inspire Project: driving the sustainability transition for manufacturing SMEs

As EcoLoop we have obtained accreditation from GreenSME to promote projects focused on the transition to sustainability for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.

For this reason, in collaboration with Orotig, we have decided to tackle two main challanges:

• the integration of environmental data
• the measurement and reduction of the carbon footprint

Regarding environmental data integration, the main obstacle to overcome is the difficulty of monitoring and analyzing environmental impact, which prevents data-driven decision-making.

The second issure to address is the lack of systemic approach to measuring, monitoring and reducing the company’s environmental footprint.

To meet these needs, EcoLoop ha developed two solutions:

• to effectively integrate environmental data, we are designing an integrated digital environment: a mapping system capable of assessing resources, suppliers, energy consumption etc., combined with a BMS (Building Management System).
• a Carbon Footprint pre-processor and a decarbonization plan to measure and reduce carbon emissions

• Sill development for employees
• Market trend insights and strengthened market positioning
• Improved business processes
• Better adaptation to future challenges

In the first three months of te project, together with Orotig, we completed an initial assessment, defining company characteristics and need. We then moved on to designing and developing the systems, establishing the key structure of the digital environment and the carbon footprint pre-calculator. Additionally, we conducted tests on the existing energy monitoring software within the company to extract the necessary data.

In this period, we successfully implemented the architecture of the integrated digital environment and the carbon footprint pre-processor, as well as a report containing user stories and a sustainability audit.

The work done so far has laid a solid foundation for the coming mohts. We want to continue on this patch to improve business processes and make them more sustainable.
