We support companies in achieving full compliance with the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Our services include LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), product environmental requirements, the Digital Product Passport (DPP), impact reduction strategies and building a long-term competitive advantage.
LCA & the EU Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR)
Ecodesign and sustainable redesign
Ecodesign LCA
Ecodesign: engineering better products from the start
Ecodesign is more than just regulatory compliance. It is an opportunity to rethink your products to cut costs, boost environmental performance and meet rising market expectations. By integrating sustainability criteria into the earliest stages of design, you can:
- Lower costs: optimizing the use of materials, energy and manufacturing resources leads to significant savings across the entire value chain.
- Enhance competitiveness: sustainable products are better positioned to win public tenders (GPP), meet the requirements of major B2B clients and satisfy consumer demand.
- Future-proof your business: EU regulations, such as Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the Digital Product Passport (DPP) are making Ecodesign mandatory across multiple sectors.
- Drive innovation: ecodesign acts as a catalyst for innovation, unlocking new business opportunities in circular models, reuse and remanufacturing.
EU Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR)
Understanding the Ecodesign for sustainable products regulations (ESPR)
The new EU Ecodesign for sustainable products regulation (ESPR) expands upon previous frameworks by introducing binding environmental requirements for a vast range of products places on the European market.
The ESPR aims to ensure that products are:
- energy and resource efficient
- durable, repairable and recyclable
- transparent
- low impact
The regulation is being phased in across numerous product categories and introduces innovative tools such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
THE BOTTOM LINE
Why LCA is the core of ESPR Compliance?
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the only scientific methodology recognized by European Commission for quantifying the environmental performance levels required by the regulation.
Without LCA, Ecodesign is nothing more than greenwashing.

Requirements
What the EU Ecodesign Regulation demands of your products
The ESPR extends ecodesign mandates to nearly all physical goods-ranging from textiles and electronics to forniture and plastics. The objective is clear: to phase out “throwaway” culture and eliminate disposable products from the European market.
Ecodesign & LCA Consultancy
Our process
We transform your products from "environmental liabilities" into benchmarks of efficiency and innovation.
Gap Analysis
We determine if your specific sector is already targeted by “Delegated Acts” and assess the distance between your current performance and the new mandatory minimum standards.
LCA Analysis & Circularity
We conduct a comprehensive LCA study to map your current resource consumption and define tailored ecodesign strategies, focusing on low-impact materials, packaging optimization and sustainable product design.
Data Governance for the DPP
The Digital Passport requires granular data from your suppliers: we provide the tools we collect and certify them.
Validation and Reporting
We prepare the necessary technical documentation to declare product compliance, ready for labeling and market place.
Digital Product Passport (DPP)
The Digital Product Passport (DPP): a new “identity card” for products
The most disruptive innovation of the ESPR is the Digital Product Passport. Every product must have a “digital twin” accessible via QR code or tag, detailing:
- material origin and supply chain traceability
- environmental performance (based on LCA studies)
- instructions for reuse, repair and recycling
The risk? Without a compliant DPP, products will be blocked at borders or withdraw from the market.

FAQ
When does it become mandatory?
The regulation is already in force. Category-specific requirements (delegated acts) will be rolled out progressively starting from 2024/2025. Waiting until the last minute is a losing strategy.
What happens if i don’t comply?
Sanctions and inability to sell within the entire European union.
Does the ESPR apply to importers as well?
Yes. Anyone placing a product on the EU market, even if manufactured outside the EU, must comply with the ESPR and have a DPP.
Is an LCA required for ESPR?
Not always in a formal sense, but it is the most effective tool for demonstrating environmental compliance and supporting the Digital Product Passport.
