We design decarbonization roadmaps to guide your company toward Net-Zero, ensuring they are validated by the most rigorous international standards, such as the SBTi (Science Based Targets inititiative).
SBTi and Decarbonization Roadmaps
From commitments to concrete, measurable action
Decarbonization strategy and consulting
What is a Decarbonization Roadmap?
A decarbonization roadmap is the operational strategy that defines how your company will progressively reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to reach Net-Zero.
Rather than a mere statement of intent, it is a concrete program that includes:
- Current emissions baseline, a full audit across Scope 1, 2 and 3
- Quantitative targets, science-based reduction goals for the short term (5-10 years) and long term (by 2050)
- Actionable roadmap, specific initiatives with defined timelines and accountabilities
- Engagement plan, strategic involvement of your supply chain and key stakeholders
SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative)
The SBTi journey (Science Based Targets initiative)
Today, simply declaring a generic reduction in emissions is no longer enough to satisfy the market or your stakeholders. Science Based Targets (SBTi) provide companies with a clearly defined pathway to reduce emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
We guide your organization through every phase of the SBTi commitment process, ensuring total methodological rigor, from GHG reporting via the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) to final target submission.
- Commitment: formal support during the initial phase of joining the initiative
- Scope 1, 2 and 3 Inventory: comprehensive mapping of direct and indirect emissions across your entire value chain
- Target setting: defining short-term (5-10 years) and long-term (Net-Zero by 2050) reduction goals based on the latest scientific standards
- Submission & Validation: full management of technical documentation to secure official approval from the SBTi.
SBTi Targets
The two tiers of SBTi Targets
Two environmental objectives for the medium and long term.
Near-term targets (5-10 years)
Short-to-medium term reduction objectives:
- Scope 1 and 2: 1.5°C aligned, requiring a minimum absolute reduction of 42% by 2030
- Scope 3: well-below 2°C aligned (mandatory if Scope 3 represents at least 40% of total emissions), with a minimum annual reduction of 2.5%
Net-zero targets (by 2050)
A commitment to reduce emissions by 90% or more across all Scopes, with a maximum of 10% residual emissions adressed through high-quality carbon removal. This includes:
- Long-term SBTi Target by 2050 at the latest
- Detailed transition plan
- Commitment to neutralization
Decarbonization and transition planning
Beyond the target: an operational roadmap
A goal without a plan is just a wish. Our technical team does more than just crunch the numbers; we define the Transition Strategy needed to tangibly reduce your carbon footprint. Our 4-step methodology:
- Hotspot analysis: identifying the most emission-intensive areas across your business operations
- Mitigation solutions: evaluating technological interventions, energy efficiency upgrades and the transition to renewable energy
- Value chain engagement: implementing strategies to reduce Scope 3 emissions by actively involving suppliers and customers
- Monitoring and reporting: setting up management systems to track and verify your progress year over year.

How to fund your decarbonization journey
The climate transition requires capital investment, but a wide range of dedicated financial instruments is available to support your progress.
Incentives and grants
- Eu funds: Horizon Europe, LIFE and the Innovation Fund
- National incentives: transition 5.0, White Certificates (Energy Efficiency Certificates) and the Thermal Account
- Tax Credits: incentives for energy efficiency, renewable energy projects and Industry 4.0 initiatives
FAQ
Can we commit to SBTi without a detailed decarbonization roadmap?
No. The SBTi requires companies to have a clear understanding of how they will actually hit their targets, even if every minor details isn’t finalized yet. A solid decarbonization roadmap is the fundamental prerequisite for setting credible, science-based targets.
How long does the SBTi validation process take?
The timeline typically ranges from 6 to 24 months, depending on the complexity of the organization and its value chains.
Is the SBTi mandatory?
Not by law, at least not yet. However, it has become the “de-facto” standard for thousands of companies and their global supply chains.
What happens if we miss our targets?
SBTi targets are highly ambitious, particularly regarding Net-Zero. However, the framework is designed to be flexible: targets can be updated or re-submitted if there are significant changes to the company’s structure or footprint, such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or major new investments.
