📢 We are partners in the European HuMUS project with the Municipality of Grezzana (Verona)!
🔍 The HuMUS project (Healthy Municipal Soils), part of the EU Soil Mission, is committed to protecting and restoring soil health at the local level, improving its quality and resilience.
🌿 Our goals with HuMUS:
- Improve soil health: implement vermicompost and biochar to enhance soil fertility;
- Promote sustainable practices: train local communities on ecological methods for soil improvement;
- Provide local solutions: adapt vermicompost and biochar technologies to the specific needs of different regions.
More specifically?
🌱 Vermicompost is a natural fertilizer produced by worms digesting organic matter. This process creates a nutrient-rich compost that improves soil structure, increases water retention capacity, and promotes healthy plant growth. Within the HuMUS project, we will promote the use of vermicompost in local communities, offering training and support to implement this sustainable practice.
🍃 Biochar is a vegetal charcoal produced through the pyrolysis of biomass, a process that decomposes organic material at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. Biochar is known for its ability to enhance soil fertility, sequester carbon, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As part of HuMUS, we will encourage the adoption of biochar as a soil amendment, demonstrating its benefits through case studies and collaborations with local farmers.
